Abbie’s School is a private, alternative school that provides an exceptional educational experience to 40 children in grades 1 through 12. Founded 25 years ago by its Director, Abbie White, the school has been a cornerstone of the community. As Abbie approaches retirement, the Foundation is dedicated to ensuring the school’s future.

The first phase of our project to ensure the future of the school is coming to an end. The major accomplishments include recruiting and hiring the new Director, Larisa Molinari, acquiring the school property, making much needed facility improvements (there is still work to be done over the summer but the funds are in hand), increasing teacher compensation, improvements in technology and development of a strong Board. Over $650,000 was raised and supported these efforts.

We are now entering Phase 2 to build on the success of Phase 1. The work to be done includes recruitment of new teachers to fill vacancies and planned retirements, provide for teacher professional development, increase teacher compensation and benefits to stay competitive, review and improve the curriculum, make additional facility improvements, including a playground for the students, and expand our network of funders so that we may maintain a tuition level that is affordable for our community. Over the next three years we will need to raise $550,000 to achieve these goals.
